Street performers are an interesting type. Some of them do it to earn their living, but many of them could make their money elsewhere, and have consciously forsaken the structure of concert halls and rock venues to embrace the grime of the street. They go to their audience, not the other way around; No tickets, schedule, or rules are necessary because all are welcome.
The great thing about a street performance is that the audience is completely honest. No one is checking their watch because they paid the price and are determined to stay the night. People either walk by or they stop, one at a time or in a crowd, the whole thing is predicated on the performers ability to make a connection. If someone says it’s because they like it, no false applause, everyone in the audience wants to be there.
This gallery features street performers of various walks of life. They play for everyone and no one in particular. Like it or leave it; it’s the simplest thing in the world, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
