Photographing animals in their own habitat requires a lot of skills. As in any other photography genre, the trick is to catch your subjects in their natural state, though in this case your subject is quite literally the nature. Still, your presence must not disturb your environment. This can be just as difficult as it is with people. It takes time to get to know the wildlife around you, to become sensitive to the innumerable number of small events in your surrounding, often occurring within only a fraction of a second.

This is what it takes to capture what are essentially the moments of natural history. Easier said than done, but at its best, wildlife photography can be mystifyingly beautiful. It brings us closer to the natural world from which we came, and reveals the wonders of the wild.
