A city is like a person, it takes time to know it well. There is the first impression, formulated from the landmarks and major avenues that you use to orient yourself at the beginning in case you get lost.
Then a more personal relationship develops, you develop a routine comprised of the places where you eat, work, walk, places for early morning coffee and going out Friday nights with friends. These places become yours; they become the stages where you play out the story of your life.
Then, later still, once you have decided that you know everything there is to know about where you live, your city starts to surprise you. You make a left turn where you usually go right, walk down that street you have never been down before or take the bridge instead of the tunnel, and suddenly the city’s hidden life reveals itself to you.
This mini-gallery is a collection of urban photos taken by our users. It is dedicated to cities, their trademark features and hidden corners. This gallery is about stopping to look at the things we see every day with new found appreciation and unearthing the details of urban living that get lost in the chaos.
