In this step-by-step tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of turning your black and white images into color using PicsArt. Follow along to learn how to do it!
Step 1: Open Draw
Tap on Draw, select Photo, and choose your black and white image.
Step 2: Crop Image
Your image will automatically be opened in the Crop Tool. Crop your image if you would like to, and tap on the check mark to confirm. Tap on the layers icon to open the layers drawer.
Step 3: Fill Color
With your top layer selected, tap on the paint bucket icon. Select a dark green color and tap on the check mark to confirm.
Step 4: Reduce Opacity
Use the slider to reduce the opacity of the layer to about 50%. Tap on the layers icon to close the layers drawer.
Step 5: Select Color
Tap on the color chooser and select a dark orange color. Tap on the check mark to confirm your color selection.
Step 6: Color In Image
Select the paintbrush tool and begin coloring in your image. Change colors with the Color Chooser, and continue until you have colored in your entire image.
Step 7: Change Blending Mode
Tap on the layers icon to open the layers draw. Tap on the Normal text to view your blending options. Select Overlay.
Step 8: Reduce Opacity & Confirm
Reduce the opacity of the layer to about 70%. Tap on the check mark when you’re done. Your image will be opened in the Editor.
Step 9: Apply Twilight Effect
Tap on Effect to open the Effects menu. Select the Twilight Effect and tap on the check mark to confirm.
Step 10: Open Masks Menu
Tap on Mask and select the Light 19 Mask (you’ll find it under the Lights section).
Step 11: Customize Mask
Tap on the gear icon to open the Settings menu. Use the icons to adjust the orientation of the mask, and reduce the opacity a little. Tap on the check mark to confirm. You’re done—save your work and share it!
