Shadows offer a melange of themes for photographers to play with. Darkness, obscurity, mystery, foreboding. They can brood far taller than the objects casting them, and when those objects are offscreen, the shadows can often evoke an even stronger emotional reaction by playing off of our imaginations and suggesting much more than the reality of a given situation.
