The past has an undeniable charm. In earlier times, everything was handcrafted, assembled with care by specialists, and it shows in the details of what remains today. Take vintage windows as an example. Before the era of sliding plastic frames, there was a time of carved and painted shutters opened over flower boxes. Even cast iron bars meant to permanently ward off potential criminals, were elegantly welded works of art. Today, though the frames may be worn and the paint may be bleached by the sun and chipped, the charm hasn’t faded.
