Hands are often the first points of contact we make with other human beings, and we tend to take their communicative capacities for granted. In truth, all the things we can say with our hands are truly overwhelming. The way we position them and learn to use them reveals so much about our character, whether we find them tensely clasped together in reservation or lightly dancing through the air in meaningful gestures to accompany a vibrant spoken story.
Hands are extraordinarily expressive, which is why drawing them can at times be a challenging task. The precision of the hundreds of folds and crevices in just one human hand makes them, of all parts of the body, one of the most rewarding to draw successfully. That’s why this week we ask you to challenge yourself to feature hands, in all their complexity, in our Weekly Drawing Project. Check out our hands drawing tutorial for some tips and enter your drawings with the hashtag #wdpHands!
