21-year-old PicsArtist Sejinyoon (@yoonsj95) lives in Gwangju, in the Republic of Korea. The area is known for its majestic scenic landscapes, exquisite cuisine, and the birthplace of Gasa, a style of classical Korean poetry. By visiting her Gallery, I can understand why she loves to capture her world. She really lives in a beautiful place.
She began to view the world differently during her sophomore year of high school when she traveled to Cambodia on a school trip. In a new environment, she learned to look at things in a different way. She wanted to capture what she saw, and this further inspired what eventually become a love for photography. When she returned to Gwangju, she snapped photos with her phone camera. On her way to school, she would catch the morning sky, and upon her return home, she would capture the sunset. She began learning about lighting through these endeavors.
She then began to explore exposure and other variables. “I went on a walk with my camera and found myself on a freeway overpass and decided to experiment with my shutter speed,” she says. “Through my camera and photography, I learn something new every day.”
In July 2014, after searching for an editing app, she discovered PicsArt and our community. She also upgraded from a phone camera to a Samsung NX300M to broaden her photo possibilities. With a new camera and powerful editing tools, her photos got better and better, and she came to the realization that photography wasn’t just a passion, but a calling.
Today, Sejinyoon lives in dorms as she prepares to enter university. Her days are filled with studying, taking photos, PicsArting, watching movies, listening to music, reading, and practicing her calligraphy. Once a month she travels home to visit her family. Sejinyoon’s story reminds us to listen to our heart and follow our passion. The result is simply beautiful.
