How are those worlds\/subject matters created? How exactly does an artist go from idea to creation? Mary Zins, a Seattle-based artist, gives us a sneak peak into her process of creation.<\/p>\n<h1><span id=\"1_The_Nouveau_Traditionalist\">1. The Nouveau Traditionalist<\/span><\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26759\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26759\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/maryzins.com\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26759 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Soulmate-1.jpg\" alt=\"Soulmate, wolves painting by Mary Zins\" width=\"1000\" height=\"721\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Soulmate-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Soulmate-1-780x562.jpg 780w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Soulmate-1-585x422.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26759\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Soulmate by Mary Zins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Both a fine artist and a freelance illustrator, Mary Zins&#8217; inspiration comes from the beauty of the animal kingdom and illustrated portraiture. She shares, \u201cI do both traditional fine art painting as well as vector-based artwork (computer-generated). In my fine art I use graphite and acrylic paints on canvas, crossing from impressionist to realistic styles. My subject is nature-based and usually <a href=\"https:\/\/picsart.com\/animals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">animals<\/a>, for there is a soulfulness and beauty in the animal kingdom that I just can&#8217;t find anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<h1><span id=\"2_Soul_Binding\">2. Soul Binding<\/span><\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26758\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26758\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/maryzins.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26758 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Full_of_Grace-1.jpg\" alt=\"Full of Grace, swan painting by Mary Zins\" width=\"1000\" height=\"489\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Full_of_Grace-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Full_of_Grace-1-780x381.jpg 780w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Full_of_Grace-1-585x286.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Full of Grace by Mary Zins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mary\u2019s goal as an artist is to create and\u00a0spark\u00a0thought and emotion within the viewer. \u201cI think the purpose of art is to invoke the soul to move, to touch a person on a deeper level. As an artist I try to go to a deeper part within myself and create imagery from that place. The deeper an artist goes, I believe, the deeper an individual will be moved by it.\u201d<\/p>\n<h1><span id=\"3_The_Ritual\">3. The Ritual<\/span><\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26757\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26757\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/maryzins.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26757 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Bob-Dylan-1.jpg\" alt=\"Bob Dylan illustration by Mary Zins\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Bob-Dylan-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Bob-Dylan-1-624x780.jpg 624w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Bob-Dylan-1-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/cdnblog.picsart.com\/2016\/07\/Bob-Dylan-1-585x731.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26757\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bob Dylan by Mary Zins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mary is a commercial illustrator and a night owl, so her rituals vary from project to project. In her fine art, she has\u00a0a more free flowing-schedule. \u201cMy schedule is usually dictated by my commercial illustration work. My fine art is very sporadic and spontaneous.\u201d Starting with a pen and paper, Mary first starts by sketching down her ideas. \u201cI will usually sketch out the image on paper. Once I get the right imagery, I will pencil it in on canvas.\u201d<\/p>\n<h1><span id=\"4_Inspiration_and_Quintessence\">4. Her work touches you on a soul level, which is what I spoke of earlier.
