The Picsart x Seedance 2.5 Challenge drew 1,258 entries between August 20 and September 3, and a review panel chose the five films below out of that field. Each winner takes an equal share of the $50,000 prize pool.

There was no theme. No brief to interpret, no category to fit into, no prompt handed down. Entrants were told to make an original video with Seedance 2.5, keep it to at least 15 seconds at 1080p, leave the Picsart badge on screen for the full duration, and submit it through the Challenges feature in the app. Everything after that was up to them.

What came back was a fantasy chase on horseback, a clown holding a balloon, a honey badger eating ice cream during a zombie attack, a whirlwind tour of the planet, and a dragon flying laps around the Eiffel Tower. Five completely different films, no shared reference point between them. Here is what each creator made, and what the five have in common.

The fae archer who never breaks character

@fauxfeast submitted a fantasy sequence. A blue-haired archer in a purple gown rides a grey horse through a mossy forest, draws a bow, calls up gold sparks and runic lightning, and ends standing on a stone slab above a waterfall. It is staged like the opening of a feature.

The reason it holds together is the character. Across roughly ten shots she keeps the same braid work, the same brow jewel, the same layered gown, the same face. Wide gallops cut to a tight over-the-shoulder on her bowstring and back out to a long lens across the treeline, and nothing about her resets between cuts. Continuity like that is the hardest thing to hold in AI video, and it is the first thing a viewer notices when it slips.

The clown and the red balloon

@rameshwaryadav2121 spends the whole entry on a single feeling. A clown in a yellow costume chases a red balloon across strips of orange and pink flowers, trips into the dirt, loses it, finds it again under a huge blossoming tree, and hugs it while petals come down around him. There is no dialogue and no plot beyond that.

The film works on performance and light instead. Golden hour, a shallow focus that keeps the fields soft behind him, and a closing close-up that sits on his face long enough to turn the mood from slapstick into something gentler. It shows that emotional weight does not need a story, only a face and the patience to stay on it.

The honey badger that refuses to be interrupted

@sheldonboosooboy2 built an entry on one joke told with a completely straight face. A honey badger sits in a sunlit meadow eating an ice cream cone. Behind it, figures start staggering through the tall grass. The badger keeps licking.

The camera pushes in close enough to read the animal’s tongue and teeth, holds there while the threat closes, then lets the badger deal with the problem and go back to the cone. All the comedy lives in what the creature does not do, which means the film only works if the animal acting is believable. Photoreal fur, a steady eyeline and unhurried body language do the whole job, and none of it would survive a single shot where the badger looked rendered.

A dandelion microphone and a tour of the planet

@iamfilmmaker went in a different direction and packed in a wide range of settings. A presenter stands in an alpine pasture full of cattle, holds up a dandelion like a reporter’s microphone, and starts talking straight to camera. Then the film takes off.

From there it cuts through registers most creators would not attempt in one piece: macro of ants crossing a forearm, monkeys grooming in a tree, a blue whale in open water, an underwater selfie, kids playing football on a dust pitch, a shopfront under cherry blossom, a tulip field at sunset, an FPV rush down a hillside town, and a skydive. Every one of those is a different lens, a different medium and a different lighting problem. The presenter stays the same person throughout, and that single thread is what turns a reel of unrelated clips into one piece.

The white dragon over Paris

@bourahlianes27 submitted an action sequence. A man in a dark coat and crimson scarf rides a white dragon around the Eiffel Tower at blue hour, threading the ironwork, banking out over the lit city, and finally standing on the dragon’s back to look it in the eye. The camera never settles, orbiting the pair in wide aerials before dropping into a rider’s-eye view over the dragon’s neck.

It is a difficult kind of shot to keep coherent. A real landmark, a creature that does not exist, fast camera movement, and a rider whose face has to stay recognisable through all of it. The film keeps the tower geometrically consistent from every angle it flies past, and keeps the dragon the same animal in a wide aerial and in a nose-to-nose close-up. Get either of those wrong and the whole illusion collapses.

What the five Seedance 2.5 Challenge winners have in common

The clearest thing the five share is that nothing drifts. A face, a costume, an animal, a landmark: whatever a film establishes in its opening shot is still exactly itself at the end. Holding that is the hardest part of making anything with AI video generators, and it is what the reference support in Seedance 2.5 exists for, taking up to 50 images, videos and audio files to lock a character’s face, wardrobe and world across a sequence.

Each one also commits to a single idea and follows it through, and each reads as shot rather than generated: shallow focus, one clear light direction, close-ups that arrive when the story needs them. Those are decisions a person makes, not settings a model supplies.

Try it yourself

The challenge page carries a top ten, so there is more worth watching there beyond the winning five above.

Seedance 2.5 is live in the Picsart AI Playground, where you can generate with it directly and compare it against other models from a single prompt. New competitions open regularly on the Picsart Challenges page, so the next prize pool is worth watching.

Five creators just walked away with $10,000 each.
