Edge of the World

Ever wondered what the edge of the world would look like? This simple photo editing trick will show you how to turn your photos into beautiful surreal landscapes.

 Watch the video tutorial here.

Step 1

Open a blank project in Draw. Tap on the Add icon and select “Photo.” Select the image you’d like to work with. You can use one of your own photos, or find an image tagged with #FreeToEdit.

Step 2

Use the arrow icon in the bottom right corner of the added image to enlarge it so that it covers the entire canvas, and drag it to place it. Tap on the layers icon to open the layers drawer.

Step 3

At the top of the layers drawer, tap on the plus sign and select “Empty Layer.”

Step 4

At the bottom of the layers drawer, tap on the Add icon and select “Photo.” Select the same image.

Step 5

Use the slider at the bottom of the layers drawer to reduce the opacity to about 50% (this will make it easier to align your added image). Tap on the layers icon to close the layers drawer.

Step 6

Drag the arrow icon in the bottom right corner to enlarge the added image. Use the circular arrows icon in the upper right corner to rotate it 90 degrees.

Step 7

Drag the image so that the horizons intersect. Tap on the Eraser icon. Then, tap on the shape icon. This will allow you to erase portions of your added image using different shapes.

Step 8

Select the square shape and make sure that the “Fill” option is selected. Tap on the check mark to confirm.

Step 9

Drag your finger to create a rectangular shape — you’ll see that the added image is erased inside of that shape. Enlarge and rotate the shape so that it runs along a diagonal axis.

Step 10

Drag the shape so that the horizontal and vertical horizons of your images intersect. Tap on the layers icon to close the layers drawer.

Step 11

Use the slider to bring the opacity back up to 100%. Tap on “Done” in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 12

Tap on “Save and Share” to share your creation on PicsArt. Add the hashtag #EdgeOfTheWorld so that everyone can find it!
