In honor of the Chinese New Year, we’re celebrating the Year of the Monkey for this week’s Drawing Project. Follow along with this step-by-step tutorial to learn how to draw a monkey with PicsArt’s drawing tools, and then give it a try on your own!
Step 1: Sketch Body
Draw a circle and an oval to determine the proportions of the head and body of your monkey. Create a new layer and outline shapes for the face and ears.
Step 2: Sketch Arms and Legs
In a new layer, draw a series of shapes for the arms and legs of your monkey.
Step 3: Sketch Details
Create a new layer and draw the monkey’s tail and a tree limb for him to sit on.
Step 4: Refine Sketch
Merge all layers containing your sketches and reduce the opacity of your sketch. Create a new layer and trace a refined outline over your sketch. Hide the layer containing your sketch, and fill in the final details to your drawing. Feel free to add color to finish off your drawing, and then share your creation with all of your followers!
