Three years ago in the West end of Berlin, where she was born and raised, Toni (@i-not) left her job at the airport to spend more time with her son. Around the same time, she picked up PicsArt and started creating and sharing some truly magnificent artwork.
Her relationship with art began as far back she can remember. As she puts it “I’ve loved to draw ever since I could think”. In the past, she would even paint on the walls of her room and to this day, you can find many of her favorite sketches hanging throughout her apartment, though these days she’s creating a very different kind of art.
Toni is a photographer with a painter’s eye for color. Her shots burst with bold, vibrant hues, and she is often at her best when she intervenes with her always tasteful and elegant photo-editing style. She can be light-handed or radical, tweaking color tones slightly or blending images to extraordinary effect, in the unique way that only she can.
Her favorite time to create is alone in her apartment when she can experiment to her heart’s content. “I can use my canon cam and a tripod, etc, [which] I can’t do with my son around me, because he wants to have the camera for himself.” But just as much as a kid can interfere with the artistic process, so to can he fuel it. When we asked Toni about her inspiration, she said “I let myself get inspired by everything I see…. and I have a good amount of imagination I guess… but most I am inspired by my kid.”
Toni also enjoys capturing photos on the road with friends and family. When she’s not creating, she enjoys reading, being with the people she loves, and of course… coffee.
PicsArt has also played a role in her inspiration, the tools and the community, both of which opened new doors and possibilities for her. ”I was surprised what people could do when I scrolled through all the pics and [also when I] tried it… PicsArt has been a part of my life for 3 years now, so I think it influenced me nearly completely, mostly through the amazing people I have met here.” She says the photos and artists on PicsArt give her insight into different countries, mentalities, and artistic perspectives.
It is just as well, because this week, we selected her to curate a gallery for us in the Explore section. “It [was] really heavy to choose only 3 artists and 20 pics, because art is as different as the people who create it to beautify the world, their homes or just their and our souls…. I would have loved to show all of it, but for that you just need to look through PicsArt.” Don’t forget to follow Toni as well by visiting her profile page.
