With PicsArt’s Text Tool, you can do — well — basically everything, so we thought it would be fun to take a minute to spell out some of the coolest edits you can make.
Creatives usually have a lot bouncing around in their heads, which means lots to say and even more ways to say it. See what we mean below, and use these ideas to express yourself in a whole new visual language.
Brush Off
Weave your letters in front of, behind and around objects by simply erasing chunks of your text in the right places. Try reducing the hardness of your brush to make your letters fade into shadows or fog. The illusions you can make with this simple trick are kind of amazing.
Fonts
The Text Tool has fonts for every theme, but did you know that there’s a lot more where that came from? Tap on the little arrow above the text icon to browse all kinds of free and paid font packages that cover every theme from tattoos to newspaper print.
Texture
Go beyond color tones! Scroll over to textures and turn your letters into canvases for awesome designs, whether it’s splatters of paint or a quaint coat of wallpaper.
Photo Textures
Take textures further and upload your own! Tap on the photo icon in the texture menu to upload a pic inside your letters. To make your image pop out of your letters, finish and import the same image again with Add Photo, then erase everything but the bits you want to stick out.
Blend
Blending modes do just what they say — they blend your letters into your image, but each mode is unique. Scroll through until you find that perfect one that makes your letters pop.
Quote Overlays
The Text Tool isn’t the only place to get text in the app. The Shop is loaded with great quote overlays — clipart packs of sayings and phrases — that all come with their own personality and style. The quote pictured below is from the pack Music is Life.
Shadows
Use shadows to make your letters pop above your shot, like a title on a magazine cover. Control the hardness and position of your shadow for maximum effect.
Use your words and express yourself with the Text Tool! Say it loud and share your own #TextOverlays on PicsArt photo editor.
