Raise your hand if you’ve ever fantasized about quitting your day job, packing your suitcase, and becoming an Instagram influencer?

Or maybe the better question is, “Who hasn’t?” One glimpse at those perfectly polished feeds, killer outfits, and mouth-watering food shots is enough to make (nearly) anyone consider the lifestyle switch.

We wish we could wave our magical photo editing wands and instantly make you an Instagram influencer, but until we gain those powers, we can give you a few tips that’ll set your feed, and comments section, on fire!

Episode one of our new vlog series has all the information you need. In it, our very own Talar Mazloumian walks you through how she takes and edits her Instagram photos solo. She covers how to scout out the perfect location and lighting, selfie tips and poses, her camera and tripod set-up, and more!

No need to take notes we have the key points for you below.

Tip #1: Take Pictures of Potential Locations

how to take photos for instagramKnow your options. Taking photos of different locations before actually shooting may sound like unnecessary extra work, but it’s definitely worth it. It’ll help you envision the photo composition and identify red flags, like harsh lighting.

Take it a step further and snap pics whenever you stumble upon a cute location that screams photo op. Then, add it to a designated album on your phone that you can refer back to later! A little pointer for our fellow forgetful people.

Tip #2: Take Your Selfies to the Next Level with a Selfie Clicker

We feel 100% confident in saying that selfie clickers are the best thing since sliced bread. Selfie clickers are tiny remote-control-like devices that allow you to set up your camera, walk away, get settled, and snap photos on your own sweet time. In other words, you no longer have to do a mad dash to get a decent self-portrait. You can order one from Amazon for as little as $9! Pretty amazing, right?

Tip #3: Leave Room for Mistakes

This tip is short and sweet but important!  ? When it comes to self-portraits, more white space around the edges is, for the most part, better. Remember, you can always crop but you can’t add extra space to a photo no matter how hard you will it.

Tip #4: Use Your Backpack as a Makeshift Tripod

No tripod? No problem! Don’t let your lack of a tripod be the thing that stands between you and your dream of becoming an influencer. With a little balancing and patience, a sturdy backpack can get the job done just fine. See minute 6:40.

REPLAY IT

Last but not least, use PicsArt Replay to create cute aesthetic edits for your Instagram in minutes! What’s so awesome about Replays? Well, pretty much everything. Replay lets you apply entire edits to your photos with just a few simple taps. Think of individual Replays like presets but cooler.

We post two Replays to our in-app PicsArt profile @PicsArt each day, so you’ll always have plenty of options to choose from. You can also make and save your own private Replays to go back to anytime. For instance, when you find the ultimate filter combination you can save it as a Replay and run all your future photos through it to guarantee a consistent look across your feed.
