Welcome back to Picsart’s bi-weekly trends blog, where we show you the viral trends you can jump on and have fun while doing it. It’s no secret that the trend cycle moves rapidly, so make the most of these while you can and embrace creativity to make them your own. Here are our favorite recent trends:

Negative Storytelling Hooks

@jennapalek

Buy the new concealer as a bundle it’s a wayyyy better deal!!

♬ original sound – Jenna Palek

The trend: No one likes negativity… other than as a source of entertainment. This content creation trend is all about enticing viewers with an unusual hook at the beginning of video content. Hooks like “Don’t make the same mistake I did!” and “Why isn’t anyone talking about this?” are being used to keep viewers interested.

How you can use it: These hooks don’t need to be too shocking, but just surprising enough to capture attention. Think of it as your news headline, or a book title. Think of a negative that you can turn into a positive throughout the rest of your video. Use this hook as your video opener, before explaining to your viewers.

Molly Long – Pop Muzik Dance

@naarjesse

talking about pop muzik is part of my daily routine 🌷😼☀️ dc molly long

♬ original sound – project21

The trend: Bringing back the old school dance trends TikTok was once known for, creators have been trying their hand at a new – slightly more challenging – dance routine. The trending dance was originally choreographed by the legendary Molly Long. The routine is set to the song ‘Pop Muzik’ by M, and has seen creators and businesses alike join in.

How you can use it: First things first: learn the steps. This is a fun and fast paced dance, so get to grips with the moves first. Try watching the dance in slow motion to nail the choreography. Add the track, and you’re ready to post!

Devotion by Lance Savali

@lancesavali

Had to hit this w/ @Rita Ora 💃🕺🏼 #fyp #foryou #newmusic

♬ Devotion – Lance Savali

The trend: This audio has been trending for all the right reasons. Another dance trend has spawned (two in one week – get ready for it seems a resurgence of 2020 trends), the song encapsulates the warmer feelings of summer and spring, and the general upbeat nature of the song is naturally appealing. These three elements combined equal the perfect recipe for a viral audio.

How you can use it: Learn the dance or set the music to your usual content. This audio is perfect for days in the life, or mini vlogs in the sun. Use it in the way that fits best with your content. Happy creating!

Bonus: AI-Generated Dolls

The trend: If you’ve been on LinkedIn this week, chances are you’ve seen AI-generated dolls flooding your feed. Posters have been using images and descriptions of themselves to generate AI dolls of their likeness. These images have also been reflecting professions, as well as personal preferences, adding in accessories like a coffee cup, a favorite notebook, and a pet.

How you can use it: Choose your favorite photo of yourself or write out a detailed description of how you want your doll to look. In your prompt, mention your profession and your must-have items. Use an AI image generator, like ChatGPT or Picsart’s Text to Image tool to bring your vision to life. Voila! You have your collectable doll!

Azul Dance

@nilabkar

Aaawyaaa 🙊

♬ Azul – J Balvin

The trend: The popular song ‘Azul’ by J Balvin has been sweeping the internet recently, prompting the newest TikTok dance trend. Despite the song’s initial release taking place 5 years ago in 2020, creators have found it to be a source of inspiration and the track has seen a resurgence in popularity.

How to use it: Recreate the dance! Either add your own twist, or keep it classic by following the moves of other TikTok dancers. Add a caption for a funny edge, or use it to show off your favorite outfit.

♬ オリジナル楽曲 – 厚揚げろが。 – 厚揚げろが。

The trend: Looking for a trending audio that packs a punch? Look no further. This song is believed to have been created by a fifth grader in Japan. The child’s father posted her creation on TikTok, leaving music specialists and the general public alike in awe. The musical prodigy has since created additional songs, which have also been uploaded.

How you can use it: Add this audio to video compilations for a dramatic effect. Some have added it to clips of rolling landscapes, while others use it to show busy days. Play around with videos to see what works best for you.

The White Lotus

@sophielgoula

Life be hard sometimes

♬ original sound – Marc Walsh-Greene

The trend: The new season of The White Lotus. That’s the trend. No, but seriously, countless audio clips have gone viral from the new season of the hit TV show by Mike White, which began to air earlier this month after the two year gap since we saw the demise of Jennifer Cooligde’s character, Tanya, at the end of season two. One of the top trending audios to have gone viral as a result features Parker Posey saying “I don’t think at this age I’m meant to live an uncomfortable life.” Users have been adding this sound to clips of luxury hotels, fine dining, and high value products.

How you can use it: Use one of the trending audios and apply it to your own situation. Or, take inspiration from a scene, and recreate it. This show has provided creators with endless opportunities to embrace their creativity.

@bethennyfrankel

OMG its beyond #bagel #protein #cottagecheese #lordswork #yourewelcome #forthepeople #bethennymademebuyit #bethennymademetryit

The trend: Bagel fans and health fans have come together in support of the new cottage cheese bagel trend. Bethenny Frankel took to TikTok to share the recipe in a series of videos, which sparked the viral phenomenon. Users have now been creating their very own versions and sharing their reactions.

How you can use it: Create your own cottage cheese bagels! Add your favorite toppings, sprinkle in an extra ingredient or two, and share your very own version. Make sure to record your taste test. Who knows, you might have just found your new go-to breakfast.

Anxiety Dance

@brookieandjessie

it’s my anxietyyyy

♬ original sound – Franklin Saint

The trend: Doechii has shot to fame in recent months, becoming a household name. Her track “Denial is a River” may have climbed the charts, but it’s another song that is currently taking TikTok by storm and inspiring a new trend. Doechii’s song “Anxiety” is used as the backing track for a dance that starts with one person in the frame. A second person then enters and mirrors the dance from behind, mimicking anxiety “watching” the original dancer.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that this dance originally appeared on the popular show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, adding an element of nostalgia to the trend.

How you can use it: Many people have felt anxiety is lurking at some point and this trend is a fun way to bring that feeling to life in a relatable and lighthearted way. You can use it to highlight everyday anxieties, like social interactions, or work stress, in a way that resonates with others. You might choose to apply this to overthinking, or you may simply opt to poke fun at relatable life moments. Either way, this trend is a great way to connect with your audience.

A New Influencer

@giselaontj

if you like makeup, skincare, travel, lifestyle related content come along — we are manifesting 🌟🤍🤲🏼 #fypシ

♬ original sound – Gisela🌟

The trend: A viral sound by TikTok user @giselaontj has inspired a new generation of aspiring influencers. The sound starts with the phrase, “I’m going to be a famous influencer by the end of this year.” Smaller creators are using this over clips of their videos, giving viewers a snapshot of their regular posts. This trend encourages creators to put themselves out there and increase their discoverability through the sound.

How You Can Use It: If you’ve been dreaming of growing your social media presence, this trend is the perfect way to manifest your goals while also boosting your visibility. Use the sound to introduce yourself to a wider audience by sharing a highlight reel of your content. Whether you’re into fashion, fitness, or lifestyle, this trend is an easy way to showcase your niche and attract new followers.

I Tried to Be the Moon/Sun/Stars

@katebartlett

brunette for life 😙

♬ lilacs – slowed – velours & azrxel & abxddon

The trend: This is an opportunity to show a before-and-after personal transformation. Content following this trend typically includes 2-3 images or clips. The first image is a “before” photo or clip, with the caption reading, “I tried to be the (insert: moon/sun/stars),” corresponding with the aesthetic. The next part reveals the most up-to-date transformation, with a caption stating, “But I was the (option).”

How you can use it: If you’ve gone through a personal transformation, a glow-up, a style evolution, or even a mindset shift, this trend is a great way to showcase your journey. Use it to reflect on how much you’ve grown and inspire others who may be on a similar path. It’s a simple but impactful way to tell your story through visuals and captions.

Lying in Bed Meme

The Trend: This meme is both relatable and giggle-inducing. An image of the 1621 painting Young Woman on her Deathbed by Jacques-Louis David has been circulating with a laptop edited into the picture. Trending across social platforms, users have been adding their own captions, such as “Me when I’ve spent the day binging Netflix.” This trend plays into the concept of ‘rotting’ (a funny take on spending excessive time in bed) and revives the traditional style of image memes popular in the early 2010s.

How You Can Use It: If you’ve ever spent a whole day glued to your screen, binge-watching, doomscrolling, reading, or even working, and you have a funny take, this is the trend for you. Add your own captions to reflect your bed-day habits – easy way to join in on this new viral moment. Plus, it’s a great excuse to embrace the ‘rotting’ lifestyle without the guilt.

Chasing a Product

@justmylook

Your fav, VIRAL Medicube goodie is back in stock👀 Click checkout and see the hype for yourselves 🏃‍♀️🛒 #medicube #medicubemask #facemask #viralbeautyproducts #viralbeauty #chaseafter #trendingvideo

♬ πρωτότυπος ήχος – Spiros Zorpidis – Spiros Zorpidis

The trend: We’ve all had that one product we love so much that we’d cross oceans to get it. This trend captures that urgent desire to buy something beautiful while incorporating a video game-inspired concept. In these videos, one person holds an item while another runs in place or moves in slow motion, mimicking a character racing toward the product.

How you can use it: Think about a product you love and often feel you need. This may be your favorite brand of coffee, the designer bag you’ve been eyeing up, or anything else you’d chase after. Grab a friend, colleague, or family member to help. Have them hold the item in one hand and film with the other while you stand in front of them and run like a video game character, as if desperately trying to reach it.

AI Day in the Life Remake

@andrewzhuo

All I see on my feed is the AI day in the life videos and idk why but I watch every single one #dayinmylife #fyp

♬ original sound – POV Lab

The trend: AI POVs have taken over our TikTok feeds, making us feel like we’ve lived thousands of different lives. But the best evolution of this trend? The hilarious parodies emerging from the dramatic “day in the life” videos. These satirical versions highlight comical yet relatable aspects of modern life, turning the original AI POVs into something fresh and relevant.

How you can use it: Create your own AI-style POV video showcasing a day in your life. Point the camera away from you with an outstretched arm to mimic the format. Satirize regular experiences about running your business if this is what fills your time, or go for a lighthearted take on student life at your college campus if you’re studying.

“Are you really about to do it?”

@johannawolday

You really bout to do it?! #kendricklamar #notlikeus #halftimeshow

♬ original sound – NFL

The trend: The hype around Kendrick Lamar’s Superbowl performance hasn’t lost any buzz since its broadcast earlier this month. Content creators have been using the sound clip of “Are you really about to do it?” and adopting the accompanying poses, as seen performed by the dancers on stage with Lamar. Some creators have been simply lipsyncing, but this can also be used to create your own meaning with a tailored caption.

How you can use it: Use this trending audio and its corresponding poses to fit your own context. Maybe your friend is asking if you’re really about to eat the same lunch for the third day in a row, or your colleague is questioning whether you’re actually quitting your job to pursue your side hustle full-time. This trend is highly versatile and can be adapted to a wide range of scenarios.

Traffic Was Crazy

@cafenuances

Enjoying my iced coffee 💅

♬ som original – Camila Coelho

The trend: Ever blamed being late on “crazy traffic” when, in reality, it was something else entirely? You’re not alone. Creators are hopping on this trend by first explaining to the camera that they’re running late due to traffic… only to reveal the real reason: grabbing a coffee, binge-watching a show, or indulging in some retail therapy.

How you can use it: This trend is a goldmine for marketers and small business owners. Use products or services from your business as the “traffic.” If you run a coffee shop, show yourself happily sipping a matcha in your cozy space. For a beauty business, feature getting pampered with a facial. Just add the trending audio, and you’re all set.

You Forgot Something

@alesia.merenkova

oh, thank you

♬ original sound – alesia.merenkova

The trend: Throwing it back to early 2000s dress-up games, this trend has serious Cher from Clueless vibes. The audio features a voice saying, “Miss, you forgot something,” while different items (usually clothes or accessories) magically appear to popping sounds.

How you can use it: Perfect for fashion and beauty brands, this trend is all about showcasing transformations. Film individual clips of yourself or a model layering each product until the final look is revealed. Splice them together, add the trending audio, and you’re good to go!

Met With My Younger Self

@hello.kelsie

A wholesome trend 🫶🏼 Original poem by- @Jennae Cecelia Poetry #coffee #coffeetok #coffeelover #coffeewithmyyoungerself #coffeeshop #poem #poetrytok

♬ Sweet Heat Lightning – Gregory Alan Isakov

The trend: Get ready for a few tears, it’s about to get emotional. This trend invites users to sit down with their younger selves and reflect on how life has changed. The format alternates between past and present, highlighting personal growth.

How you can use it: For business owners, this is an opportunity to show the journey of building your brand. Share a comparison of your early days, including the struggles and uncertainty, versus where you are now. This raw authenticity can create a deeper connection with your audience and make your brand even more relatable.

Nooo mi

The trend: One of the most eccentric trends to come out of 2025 so far has been the ‘Nooo mi’ trend, also known as ‘When the robber takes my…’ meme. This trend takes images by the artist Irena Aizen, and turns them into a two slide meme that has spread across TikTok and Instagram. The first image features a single rabbit-like creature holding an item, with the caption: “When the robber takes my (insert item here).” The second slide shows the same character without the item, with a caption that reads, “Nooo mi (item).” The added audio is the dreamy track ‘La petite fille de la mer’ by Vangelis, making the whole thing feel extra whimsical.

How to use it: Small business owners, this one’s for you! Pick one of your favorite products and use it as the missing item in the text. For example, your first slide could read, “When the robber takes my Ultra Hydrating Lip Oil,” followed by “Nooo mi lip oil.” Add the trending audio, and your content is ready to go!

Hopeless Core

@hopelesss_core

Follow for more daily hopelesscore vids #hopelesscore #hopecore #funny

♬ Originalton – hopeless_core

The trend: If you spend any time on social media, you know how often bad interviews and awkward celebrity moments go viral. This trend takes those moments and flips them into what looks like an inspirational video. It’s all about editing a cringey quote into something deep, with sweeping nature shots, dramatic instrumental music, and bold text captions, except the words being said are… less than profound.

How to use it: If you (or your brand’s founder) have ever had an awkward interview moment, this is your chance to lean into it. Find a moment that’s more cringe than controversial, add some striking visuals, overlay motivational music, and be prepared to laugh at yourself. It’s a great way to show you’re in on the joke.

You’re So Funny

@ashtonpeterson

I can’t keep up or get on board with these Gen Z trends y’all😅 sticking with my timeless classic peices 👏🏽 #youresofunny #boutiqueowner #boutiquelife #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinesslife #relatable #trending #teamwork #boutiqueclothing #fyp #viral #funnymoments #millennialsoftiktok #millennial #timelessfashion

♬ THAT IM SO DOWWWWNNN – nottotallysure

The trend: This one has been all over X, TikTok, Instagram, and even LinkedIn. The format is simple:

“You’re so funny”
Thanks, (insert anecdote)

Then, the user follows up with a personal experience, usually something unfortunate or deeply unhinged that explains why they developed their sense of humor. The contrast between the casual text and the unexpectedly heavy story is what makes this trend both hilarious and painfully relatable.

How to use it: As a business owner, you’ve probably had your fair share of struggles. This is a great way to share those moments in a lighthearted way. For example:

“You’re so funny.”
Thanks, I spent $10K on my first round of packaging only to realize I spelled my business’ name wrong on the order form, making it unusable.

Sharing these stories makes your brand feel more human, and everyone loves a little self-deprecating humor.

Disappointed

@laurengiraldo

🙃

♬ оригинальный звук – .

The trend: This one has a sadder tone to it. The ‘Disappointed’ trend is all about capturing those small, everyday moments of letdown. Users film themselves doing something mundane while layering a melancholic humming audio over the top. The text explains the disappointment in a way that fits the mood of the clip.

How to use it: This trend is your chance to get real with your audience. While a lot of this week’s trends turn setbacks into something to laugh at, this one leans into authenticity. Whether it’s a business mistake or a personal letdown, sharing these moments can help you connect with your audience in a more genuine way.

The trend:
For the past few weeks, a particular audio clip has been popping up everywhere. The format? A video or image of something (or someone) you absolutely adore, paired with the now-iconic “My Shayla” sound. It’s a simple, wholesome way to show appreciation-whether it’s for a pet, a friend, or even an inanimate object.

How to use it:
This is a perfect way to highlight your favorite products. Film or snap a photo of an item you want to showcase-maybe your best-selling lip oil or a cozy candle-and overlay the trending audio. Want to go the extra mile? Add something cute, like a tiny bow on the lip oil or googly eyes on the candle. The internet loves a little extra charm.

TikTok ban content

@condimentclaire

¯_(ツ)_/¯

♬ eredeti hang – Griffins4U – Griffins4U

The trend: As a result of the looming TikTok ban, users have been taking the opportunity to make a whole range of content on the event. This spans from users making content to share the handles of their other social media accounts, others telling their final ‘secrets’ to their on TikTok followers, and some filming meme videos, joking about the preparation to move to TikTok alternatives.

How to use it: For small businesses, this is an important time to get ready for this shift. The TikTok ban may result in a loss of followers, and the need to employ new social media strategies. Think about what you need to achieve before the ban is enforced. If you have a large TikTok following, make sure you let your audience know where else they can find you. If your audience is mainly on another platform, have fun with it by creating your own meme or recap.

♬ original sound – LOLA YOUNG LIVE

The trend: If you’re a fan of Vogue’s iconic ‘What’s in my bag’ series, this is sure to be a trend that you’ll enjoy. TikTok users are sharing the contents of their bags by laying each item out and then tagging the brands. Often leaning into a luxurious aesthetic, creators group together their favorite items to share with their audiences.

How to use it: This trend works equally well as in video and static formats, meaning that posting the same content on more visual platforms, like Instagram. For small business owners, this is a great opportunity to show how your products fit into everyday life and fit with certain aesthetics. Make sure to tag your own brand and use visually appealing backgrounds to stop the scrollers.

Gearing up

The trend: Video content following this trend shows a creator stretching, getting ready for the new year as though they’re about to workout. Service business owners have been jumping on this style of content to show them preparing to deal with clients. The caption says who the service provider is preparing to deal with, creating a comedic and relatable video.

How to use it: It’s rare for service business-specific trends to pop up, so if the business you own provides a service, make sure to jump on this! Make sure to strike a balance between being relatable and funny, while still keeping your target market in mind – avoid offending your customers! If you’re a nail salon owner, caption your content with something like ‘Preparing for all the girlies who saw Hailey Bieber’s new January nails’ or if you’re a social media manager, try something like ‘Getting ready for my clients to ask if I’ve heard about the TikTok ban.’

Sisters

@ellakatededman

Makes it easy for our parents 😉😂#foryou #pink #blue #fyp #foryoupage #fypシ #viralvideo #viraltiktok #sisters

♬ original sound – The Oscars – The Oscars

The trend: Is there someone in your life that you often match with? Maybe you have the same style as a friend, or perhaps you and your real-life sister gravitate towards similar products. This trend shows clips of two individuals with coordinating items, set along to the song ‘Sisters’ from the 1954 movie ‘White Christmas.’

How you can use it: As a small business owner, choose products that you have in multiple styles or colors. Ask a friend to help model your products to show the variations of your offerings. Lip sync to ‘Sisters’ and you have a fun piece of content that displays your products in pairs!

Life without a trending audio

@sebastianochristian

life without trending audios

♬ Originalton – sebastianochristian

The trend: Trending audios are applied to nearly every TikTok trend – except this one. Users have been splicing related clips together, whether they’re clips from a vacation, or videos that represent the year gone by, and instead of setting them to a viral sound, the original audio from each clip is included.

How you can use it: Compile a range of meaningful clips from your business over the last 12 months. These may include videos from launching in the office, product launches, typing on your laptop, or events you’ve attended. Add the clips altogether and make sure to keep their original audios. This will help an audience to feel as though they are getting an authentic glance into your business.

Future life image

The trend: For those who are manifesting their goals in 2025, this is a must-use trend. TikTok users have been finding an image of their dream home and adding emojis to decorate it in line with their dream life. From spouses and children, to ideal pets and cars, creators are using this as a creative alternative to a vision board.

How you can use it: This is the perfect trend to show your customers how supporting your business will help them too. Instead of creating a dream home, create your dream business. If you’re a pilates instructor, build your own studio, add emojis of customers entering and chatting, create a coffee bar, and use text to express the feelings of warmth and community. There are no limits and it will help to include prospective customers in your vision!

December 19

The Muppets Story Time

The trend: In this photo swipe trend that is taking over TikTok, users are sharing embarrassing moments they’ve experienced and the story behind them. With each slide, the story becomes more outrageous. The same still image of a muppet looking shocked is used for every slide, layered with a choral version of the Madonna song ‘Like a Prayer’. If you’re in need of a giggle, you can be sure to have one from this trend.

How you can use it: If you have a long or cringey story to tell, this is the trend for you. Create your own TikTok multi-image post using the muppets image for all of your slides and add your story over the top in white writing. For small business owners, think of a funny or embarrassing story from when you were first starting out. Use the ‘Like a Prayer’ audio, and your post is ready!

♬ カフェでボサノバを聴く休日 – ya-su

The trend: Influencers and business owners have been taking to TikTok and Instagram to share their gift recommendations this Christmas. Taking the forms of both videos and carousels, carefully curated collections of products are grouped based on one category or recipient. These posts range from collages showing a gift guide for a college girly to videos similar to product demos, showing what to buy your boyfriend for Christmas.

How you can use it: For brands, this is the perfect opportunity to show your products in action. Curate your own collages categorising your products, like ‘for the coffee lover’ or ‘for the future beauty guru’, or take things old school by talking to the camera and showing what you would buy the different people in your life, in a style similar to an OG Zoella YouTube video from the early 2010s.

The 2024 Season

@

♬ –

The trend: Users have been creating content to an audio clip by sportscaster Sam Levitt, which says “And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end.” Multiple versions of this sound with added music have been circulating, with some creators even making their own remixes. Users have been compiling clips of their year as a fun way to round up their content for 2024.

How you can use it: As a small business owner, compile clips from your year. Tell a story about your journey with the order. You can use this as a highlight reel, or create a sense of authenticity by showing both your highs and lows. Make sure to post your video by the end of the year so that you can start with a clean slate in 2025!

The trend: A new content trend focuses on confessions! Creators are inviting friends, family, or colleagues to take turns sharing secrets while the listener promises not to judge or react negatively. These unexpected truths often escalate in outrageousness, keeping viewers hooked as the video progresses.

How You Can Use It: For small businesses, this trend is a fun way to showcase authenticity. Partner with a coworker or collaborator to reveal relatable, behind-the-scenes confessions about your work or business. Be prepared to laugh and maybe even surprise your audience with your honesty!

The trend: TikTok users are celebrating the things they love with short videos set to an audio clip saying, “Now this is 10 out of 10.” These quick videos feature products, places, or experiences that hold special value to the creator.

How You Can Use It:
This trend is perfect for showcasing your brand in seconds. Highlight your best products, a unique location, or a memorable experience your business offers. Use the “10/10” audio to add a touch of fun and positivity, and make sure your visuals shine to grab attention quickly.

The trend: With the buzz around the Wicked movie, an audio clip from its trailer has taken social media by storm. Creators are using this dramatic sound to announce exciting news or new products. These videos typically start with the creator lip-syncing before transitioning to the item they’re spotlighting.

How You Can Use It:
Film yourself lip-syncing to the line, “Everyone, I have an announcement.” Then, transition to showcase your latest product, event, or offer. Create an eye-catching setup to ensure your announcement feels as exciting as the trend itself!

AI Cat

@picsart

oops!! #picsart #cat

♬ オリジナル楽曲 – animaldance – animaldance

The trend: AI dancing cats have been taking over FYPs, inspiring many creators to try out the dance for themselves. Short clips of AI cats in different costumes have gained popularity over the last month or so, causing a dance-fueled frenzy to break out. Users have been arguing over the correct way to perform the dance, often captioning their videos with something like, “Since none of y’all are doing the AI cat dance right,” before performing the routine in the way they perceive to be correct. A word of warning—once you’ve watched the dancing cat videos, you may find it difficult to get the related song out of your head.

How you can use it: It’s time to let loose and get your dancing shoes on! First, have a go at learning the dance. You can either do this by watching the original AI cat videos or other creators’ interpretations of the dance. Once you’ve recorded your video, think about what kind of caption would resonate with your audience. Keep things lighthearted and funny to match the vibe of the trend. For example: “When you thought starting a social media agency was going to be glamorous, but most of your days end up looking like this,” or, “Customers keep asking me to restock berry lip balm, but I’m busy rn.”

Oopsie (Camera Flip)

@picsart

OOPSIE!! #smallbusinesstok #marketingtips #picsart

♬ Lovely (Violin) – bitchbaby

The trend: This trend is all about stating a controversial opinion or something you feel strongly about, using it as a way to showcase your products or offerings while laughing at yourself. Creators jumping on the trend first film away from themselves using their back camera, then overlay text with the statement or opinion. The camera is then flipped (seemingly by accident) to reveal the creator, usually the owner of a brand, someone well-known who holds the stated opinion, or a creator with a clear, specific interest.

How you can use it: As the owner of a small business or solopreneur, this is a great way to express your mission directly. Start by filming away from yourself for a few seconds. Then, flip your camera around to record yourself using the front camera. Pretend to be shocked (as though you’ve been caught out) and scramble to turn the camera off. Over your first clip, add the opinion or statement, like: “Guys, can we all agree to shop exclusively from sustainable small businesses this Christmas?” or, “I honestly think the only skincare brand that really works is (the name of your brand).” When you flip the camera, add text like “oops” or “oh no.” This trend takes less than a minute to jump on!

The trend: Creators are using this trend to recap their year, often showing how their lives have improved over the course of 2024. These clips authentically show the progression of the creator’s year, giving audiences an inside look into their lives and fostering a deeper connection with followers. A sped-up clip of the song That’s So True by Gracie Abrams forms the basis of this trend, playing over all the clips.

How you can use it: This trend simply involves compiling a range of clips from your camera roll, splicing them together, and adding the song over the top. As a small business, use any clips you have that show your progress over the year, along with footage of your team (or just you, if you’re a solopreneur) having fun or working on the business.

Suspect

@amelia.liana

SHE GOT THE TREND😭🫠💀 #suspect #suspecttrend

♬ original sound – Amelia Liana

The trend: This trend requires a tough skin and a sense of humor, as it’s all about roasting (and getting roasted). Usually, this trend involves two, but sometimes three or four, people taking turns filming each other running. The person running away is described by the one filming, as though they are a suspect being chased by the police. The descriptions often take the form of a playful insult with an element of truth.

How you can use it: Brands and small businesses can use this trend to create funny content that showcases their brand personality. For example, an activewear brand could film two friends running, with one saying, “Suspect thinks they’re the most fashionable in every room but actually just wears Jenny’s Joggers with every outfit,” and the other saying, “Suspect tricks everyone into thinking she’s a pilates princess but only goes to reformer classes to wear cute matching sets.” Filming ‘suspects’ in your brand’s pieces will help draw in your ideal audience, while keeping your brand authentic and relatable on social media.

The Council Has Decided Your Fate

This is so silly #stardewvalley

♬ original sound – Voicemod 🎙 – Voicemod 🎙

The trend: This is a fun trend to try if you have a collection or set of similar items, such as plush toys, makeup products, or any other items you can place in a circle. These products or items are arranged in a circle, initially facing away from the camera with text overlay reading, “The council is deciding your fate.” In the next shot, the products face the camera, accompanied by the text, “They have decided.” The final video reveals the viewer’s ‘fate’ in a creative and engaging way.

How you can use it: This is a perfect trend to try if your business has physical products to sell. If your items don’t necessarily have a ‘face’ or front, like toys do, get creative! Add googly eyes, or make this trend your own by finding a unique twist. Pick a ‘fate’ that would resonate with your target audience, and get posting!

The trend: This trend is for anyone who loves to exaggerate and tell stories. Creators craft a fictional story that mirrors a real experience they’ve had, adding the real meaning in brackets after each line or sentence for a humorous effect.

How you can use it: This trend offers many possibilities for small businesses. You could use it to tell a story that details a day in the life of someone working at your business or a day in the life of a customer using your service or product. For example, an employee might post, “The feeling when you sail the seven seas (take a busy subway) to get to the magical kingdom (the office) to reunite with your long-lost family (your coworkers who you literally saw yesterday).” The creative potential of this trend is limitless, so dive in and make it your own!

The trend: A funny clip from a 2016 episode of the show Broad City recently started circulating on social media. The scene features two women in a nightclub having a conversation. There is a miscommunication between the two, as one does not understand what the other is saying. The audio has since been used in thousands of videos, often representing a misunderstanding between two individuals, with many also using it to refer to a niche interest.

How you can use it: This is a fun way to reinforce a sense of community with your followers. Use this as an opportunity to connect with your audience and make them feel as though they are in on an inside joke. One way your brand could do this is by overlaying your own text referring to your products, such as “When I see someone else using Nature Berry lip gloss.” Pretend to wave at someone as the audio begins to play the words “Do you know them?” Grab a colleague or friend to mimic the audio with.

Spoil it all by saying something stupid

♬ sonido original – emilia’s wife

The trend: This is a fun and easy trend where creators reminisce about mistakes or silly errors they’ve made. It involves lip-syncing the chorus of the song “Something Stupid,” but instead of mouthing the words “I love you” at the end, creators substitute it with something embarrassing or incorrect they’ve said or done. Celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter have joined in, along with thousands of other users.

How you can use it: Think about a time when you made a mistake while working on your business – whether it’s changing packaging, making a typo on a product, or making a poor decision. This trend humanizes your brand, and it invites your audience to relate and engage in the comments. It’s a fun way to poke fun at your business while creating a connection with your audience.

The trend: This trend is all about turning unfortunate events caught on camera into funny content. The original video is edited so that it shows the action about to happen, followed by the moment it actually takes place. Creators and businesses alike have used this trend to showcase mishaps with a humorous twist.

How you can use it: As a small business owner or marketer, this trend could be used in a number of ways. Your video could feature an unfortunate circumstance your business faced, such as a piece of pottery that went wrong, or your bread dough falling to the ground (as seen in the example). Alternatively, you can put a positive spin on it: the first clip might show you working hard on your laptop during your business’ early days, and the second clip could show you celebrating a big milestone, illustrating your journey to success.

The trend: With this trend originally taking off last month, it’s showing no signs of slowing down. In this content, users begin their videos with the text “I wonder where the wind will take me today” before leaning and appearing to stumble into a new location. Creators have been using this to show their favorite food and drink establishments, stores, and travel destinations. This video can either feature multiple people or just one person.

How you can use it: If your small business has a physical product or location, this is an ideal trend to get involved in. Start off by featuring yourself, or someone who could be your customer, in the video with the text “I wonder where the wind will take me today” overlaid with the popular audio. Cut the clip as you’re beginning to lean, and begin your next clip as you’re leaning further. Your second clip should be filmed in one of your favorite locations (your business) or with your favorite items (your products).

@karolinevollstad

girly things 💌 #iwasntsad #girlythings #girlygirl #girlyaesthetic #girltherapy #pinterestaesthetic #selfcare #shopping

♬ Oh I wasnt sad I just needed – Amber | UK & Travel ✈️✨

The trend: Similarly to the dopamine menu trend mentioned a few weeks ago, this trend focuses on things that make the creator happy. Using the popular sound by TikTok creator @eats.travels, this trend can be created as a video or as an image carousel post. Content following this trend usually starts off with an image or clip of the content creator while the audio says “Oh I wasn’t sad”. When the audio continues, saying “I just needed a little bit of this, a little bit of that” the images or video clips change to show things and places that make the creator happy.

How you can use it: This is a particularly useful trend for small businesses because it is easy to show the value or entertainment your offering provides. Start the trend by showing yourself or a customer, before lining up clips or photos of your products or business in general. If you own an AirBnB property, show some of the things in the space that make it unique. If you own a fashion or jewelry brand, display the experience of buying your items and show off the pieces themselves. This trend is easily adaptable, so make sure to use it in the best way for your business.

Wait! They don’t love you like I love you

The trend: You may already know the song ‘Maps’ by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but once you’re familiar with this trend you may never hear it the same way again. TikTok users have adopted a sped up version of the song to form the basis of a new (and very simple) dance. At the start of the word “wait”, the creator holds their hand out in a lunging pose. When the song continues with “they don’t love you” the dancer stands and wiggles.

How you can use it: This is a quick and easy trend to recreate. Simply overlay text that is relevant to your niche. For a skincare business this could be “Me when my customers start talking about organic skincare” or for a shoe brand this could be “Me when I see anyone wearing our knee high stiletto boots in the wild.” You could even make a series of these videos for different products and occasions!

Scram!

@reallygoodimpressions

PSA to any guy that tries to talk to my girl #boyfriend #girlfriend #relationship

♬ where is my mind (piano version) – your movie soundtrack

The trend: A video created by TikTok user, @reallygoodimpressions (otherwise known as Kel) has become the most recent trend sweeping the platform. In the original content, Kel jokingly threatens the viewer by telling them to “scram” and telling them that “she doesn’t want to talk to you”. Although the original video refers to the creator’s partner, other users have been repurposing the clip by overlaying it on a different background and adding text to suit other purposes. Brands have been quick to jump on this, so now is the perfect time to relate this to your business.

How you can use it: Find an image of your products or a plain background, before overlaying the clip. For an organic beauty brand with luxury ingredients, your text may read “Me to people who suggest using lower quality ingredients to increase my profits”, or if you’re a cake shop, text such as “When people tell us they think that red velvet is an overrated flavor” may work best with your offering.

Disappointment Sound

@lauurenanderson

♬ sad SpongeBob music – michael

The trend: The popular sound originates from the show SpongeBob SquarePants, and is synonymous with scenes where the famous sponge has failed at a task or is generally upset. The audio clip is now making its rounds on both TikTok and Instagram and has been used in an extensive variety of ways, from creators posting personal stories to large brands, such as airlines, creating original content with the sound.

How you can use it: Think of problems that your product or service addresses and play on this. For example, if you’re a jewelry brand, make a joke about a ring not from your brand turning a finger green, or if you offer freelance social media services, focus on how potential clients may put in hours of work for little or no engagement across their channels.

Rory Gilmore Fall

@richelle_zh

♬ Rory Gilmore Fall – dietcherrycola

The trend: This trend is all about embracing a fall, just like a Gilmore girl. The audio that sparked the trend is a mash up of a sound clip from the popular show, along with the song Head Over Heels by 80’s British pop duo, Tears for Fears. Creators start by lip-syncing the character Rory’s monologue to the camera about looking “pretty and girly”, before stepping back to reveal an autumnal outfit. Other users have simply been using the trending sound to show off some of their favorite fall items and products.

How you can use it: If you are a small fashion or accessories brand, this is your time to shine. There are a number of ways you can use this trend. The first of these includes choosing your brand’s favorite pieces and creating a fall outfit, inspired by Gilmore Girls’ fashion. Think long fitted coats, knee high boots, and cozy turtlenecks. Another way to use this trend is to set static images of your products to this trending audio to create a carousel for your Instagram feed or TikTok.

VMA memes

The trend: The MTV VMAs took place earlier this week and the memes have been flowing in full force. The star-studded line up, included performances from Sabrina Carpenter, Tyla, Eminem, Chappell Roan, and Camila Cabello, as well as appearances from Tyla, Taylor Swift, Post Malone and many, many more familiar faces. It’s almost guaranteed that each year that the VMAs will produce new viral moments, and this year was no exception.

How you can use it: Take your pick from one of the many clips or images from the event, and match it to a situation relevant to your business. For example, if you’re a social media manager, you could use a clip of Camila Cabello smashing a laptop and include text saying ‘When your scheduled post didn’t publish’ or ‘Me when I see I’ve spelled my client’s name wrong in a campaign deck’. You may alternatively choose to use an image of Eminem and his lookalikes and caption it ‘What it feels like to be a one person marketing team.’ The opportunities are endless – find the content that’s best for you and tailor it to your business.

I don’t want to feel that type of pain again

The trend: This new trend has been gaining momentum over the last day or two, with creators using the sound in their own ways. The song in question includes the lyrics ‘I don’t want to feel that type of pain again.’ By overlaying the sound on top of video content, some users have been including a reference to a memory or event, which is then followed by the trend’s key lyrics.

How you can use it: Give your content a comedic edge by using this song to say that you don’t want to go back to the pain you felt without the product or service your small business offers, or perhaps reference a time when it wasn’t available. For example, your text could read ‘Do you remember when you missed Creative Coffee’s new flavor drop and it sold out in 10 minutes?’ This is a super versatile trend, so find a way to make it relevant to your audience and get posting!

Two steps ahead

The trend: A trending audio of a quote from a video by popular creator, Nikocado Avocado, has seen a resurgence this week after having made the rounds on social media for quite some time. The audio features the words “Two steps ahead, I am always two steps ahead.” Users are jumping on this trend to mention a time when they were ahead of the curve, or surpassed a personal best.

How you can use it: Show how your business is a leader, whether this is from starting trends as a freelance marketer, or coming up with new formulas for your hair care line. Your content could either feature the team behind the magic with text indicating how the business has stayed ahead of the game, or show clips of your products, with text overlaid including quotes and positive reviews from customers about how their hair has never felt better, or from clients mentioning how you were able to develop an engaged following for them.

♬ Originalton – Lettyᡣ𐭩ྀིྀིྀི

Trend description: The song Symphony by Clean Bandit has found itself at the heart of multiple viral videos this week. The trend includes the song’s original chorus laid over picturesque graphics of dolphins and rainbows. The twist is that there is a morbid or unpleasant caption in bold white text over the top. The contrast between the unsettling captions against the uplifting audio and backgrounds makes this content funny to watch and leaves a viewer wanting to see more, or understand the context.

How you can use it: Think of a cringe moment or a time when things went seriously wrong for your business. You may think of these times as your biggest failures, but honesty and transparency are two qualities that have made this such a popular trend. Share these stories with your audience, using the original audio and a similar style background. This is a great way to connect with your audience.

Trend description: This trend has seen huge popularity on TikTok over the past week. The dopamine menu trend involves social media users showing the audience all the things they do to bring them joy when needed. It is something to refer back to when feeling down, or when you just simply need a break.

How you can use it: Show others how your product or service can fit into their dopamine menu. Think about what you love about your offering what others might too. Consider how this will this help to bring them joy. What do you want your audience to know about your brand? This is a great trend to show how your online yoga classes, or the fresh pastries you make daily, can take a spot on someone’s dopamine menu.

Trend description: This is a trend which is both aspirational and relatable, as well as easy to join in on. This and yap entails the creator showing an environment, often with food or drinks, that they enjoy being in to catch up with friends, have a chat with colleagues or spend time with family. Used in both video and photo content, the image or video simply has ‘this and yap’ written over the top. Simple, but effective.

How you can use it: This is a fantastic opportunity for cafe owners, drink brand founders and restaurateurs to show off their locations and offering. Film a short clip (only a few seconds long) of your establishment or product, and use text over the top reading ‘this and yap’. Add the APPLE X SUPERCUT audio by @jevanmusic on TikTok, and you’re done!
