Now that the new year is upon us, it’s the perfect time to focus on what we really want to achieve in the upcoming year. Setting goals or ‘resolutions’ is always a great step in prioritizing your own personal roadmap for the year, but as a visual person, I love to take goal setting a step further and turn it into a fun and motivational vision board. I know vision boards can feel cheesy and a bit ridiculous, but even just creating one for eyes only can be a really helpful exercise in motivating yourself to achieve your goals.  Today I’m going to walk you through how to create a vision board for 2024 using Picsart.

Let’s do it!

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is more than just a fancy collage. It’s a tangible (in this case digital) representation of your goals and dreams. It’s a visual and inspirational tool that can guide you towards achieving your biggest aspirations.

Why Create a Vision Board?

Clarity: It helps you clarify and concentrate on specific life goals.

Motivation: Seeing your goals daily keeps you motivated.

Focus: It’s a daily reminder of what you’re working towards.

How to Create a Vision Board

Step 1: Let’s set our goals

Start by listing down what you want to achieve in 2024. Think big, but be realistic. Do you want to expand your business? Learn a new skill? Balance work and life better? Or even just drink more water? Write it all down! Start by writing it all down (or in my case, using the notes app). I always find it helpful to think about 3 different categories: Personal, Professional and Financial.

Step 2: Gather Inspiration

Once you have your goals written down, begin collecting or creating images that resonate with those goals. I browsed Pinterest for inspiration, and generated some images with AI that match my goals.

Step 3: Start with a Blank Canvas in Picsart

Open the Picsart app or web – I used the web platform to create mine. Select ‘new project’ and then ‘blank canvas’. Choose a size that suits your preference – a larger canvas gives you more space to play around. I prefer a rectangle, so I went for a 1200 x 800 size.

Step 4: Start Dropping in Your Inspiration

Import the images you’ve gathered into your canvas. With Picsart, you can easily resize, crop, and adjust these images to fit your vision. You can see at this stage there’s loads of white space and we’re just getting started.

Step 5 Explore Picsart’s Editing and Text Tools

Utilize the wide range of tools available in Picsart to enhance your images. Add filters, adjust brightness, or play with contrasts to make each image pop. You can also add text for motivation. Incorporate motivational quotes or affirmations using the text tool. You can select from various fonts and colors to match the vibe of your vision board.

Add flair to your vision board with Picsart’s extensive sticker library and artistic overlays. These elements can add a layer of personality and depth to your board. In my opinion, the trick to getting a good vision board is the same as creating an appealing charcuterie board: No empty (or white) space.

Drag and rearrange your images, text, and stickers to create a cohesive and visually appealing layout. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to do this – it’s all about what inspires you! I played around with adding stickers, text and elements from the Picsart library.

Save and Revisit Regularly

Once you’re satisfied, save your digital vision board. Set it as your desktop wallpaper or print it out. Regularly revisiting your vision board can be a powerful way to stay motivated and focused on your goals.

Optionally, share your digital vision board with friends, or just keep it for yourself. Inspire others with your creativity and get inspired by their vision boards too. I set mine as my laptop wallpaper so I will see it regularly.

Tips for a Super Vision Board

Be Specific: Vague images can lead to vague goals. Choose visuals that clearly represent your aspirations.

Balance: Mix professional goals with personal development and fun.

Use Powerful Words: Include affirmations and inspirational quotes.

Be Creative: This is your dream board – make it uniquely you!

Creating a vision board is like setting the GPS for your 2024 journey. It’s a mix of creativity, planning, and dreaming. As a professoinal, having a visual representation of where I want to go is not just inspiring, it’s essential.
