Our Graphic Design Contest this week is about creating your very own comic strip. Take any approach you like, whether you envision yourself as an artist working for Marvel or DC, or as just a contributor to the Funny section of your weekly paper. Use images and narration to tell a story.

It can be about superheroes saving the planet or a satirical commentary on everyday life, whatever inspires you most. Use any combination of drawing, clipart, text, and photos. You can use a single panel, or create a comic strip by combining a sequence of images using the collage tool. You can even alternate from panel to panel between drawings and photographs. Then add captions and callouts to insert narration, commentary, or dialogue.

Try your hand at comic book art, and make an original. It’s time to publish your very first edition.

How to Participate…

To enter your design into the competition, tag it with #GDcomics or submit it in the ‘Contest’ section of our website. You can only submit a maximum of two designs in the Contest. All entries must be submitted by Wednesday, July 17th at midnight San Francisco time.

How to Vote

You can vote for your favorite designs in the “Contests” section of the app on your mobile device or by visiting the “Contests” section on our website.

Voting starts immediately and extends an extra day after the closing of submissions until midnight on Thursday, July 18th. This gives late entries a full extra day to collect votes.

Contest Winners

The top 10 comic strip designs that have accrued the most votes by midnight on Thursday, July 18th (San Francisco time) will be the #GDcomics contest winners.
