Clone Tool

In this tutorial, learn how to use the Clone Tool to copy-paste part of your image in just six simple steps!

 Watch the video tutorial here.

Step 1

Open your image in the photo editor (Hint: the Clone Tool works best on images with simple or patterned backgrounds). Tap on Tool and select the Clone Tool.

Step 2

Tap on the part of your image that you’d like to clone — we want to clone the figure in the image, so we selected the area just above the head (you can always tap on the target icon at the top of the screen to reset your selection). Tap on the circular icon to open the brush settings menu.

Step 3

Use the sliders to customize your brush settings. We increased the brush size and reduced the opacity slightly (the reduced opacity will make the cloned figure appear transparent — super cool!). Tap on the check mark to confirm.

Step 4

Use your finger or stylus to paint on the cloned figure (if you make a mistake you can always tap on the back arrow to undo it or tap on “Erase” to switch to the Eraser Tool).

Step 5

Paint on a third cloned figure (the opacity will automatically be reduced again). When you’re done, tap on the check mark to confirm.

Step 6

Tap on the Save icon to save your image. Tap on the Share icon to share it. Add the hashtag #CloneTool to your image so that everyone can find it!
